The crossing at Gateway Bridge

"Sir, they come!" called Rathin's lieutenant.
"Right men, this is our last chance! We have to move south of the river and prevent Mainz and Aerun combining their forces!" Although Rathin said this with purpose, his men grunted and assembled their gear twice as slow as normal.
"Sir we have a problem!"
"What now!"
"A major part of the bridge has fell off, we may be unable to cross it."
"I'll tell you the problem, we aren't moving across it right now!"
Rathin resolved to sent portions of his men across at a time, so it wouldn't fall to pieces.
Definitely not a good day for a battle with the broken bridge and lazy men. Mainz happened to habit choosing days such as these...

Lieutenant Mainz Vs Lieutenant Rathin (The raging river)

Deployment:

Rathin's men cautiously moving across the bridge well aware of it's
rickety-ness
The Haradrim spreading out to increase the chances of getting through
Rathin surrounded, two men move right blocking the flanking manoeuver
Rathin pushes the men back slicing the ranger's shoulder, -2 might
The guard fights well, only to be cheated by fate
The Haradrim manage to get two men through the line,
but are attacked elsewhere
Mainz' prowess allowing a strike to the lieutenant's stomach
The Haradrim closely evading the Gondorian's attempts
The ranger's arrow finds the southerner's eye
Mainz' heroic move allows the Haradrim to be caught
Asten finding his mark
Mainz wounds the corporal, who has fate with him
Surrounding hither and thither
The citadel guard dealing the final blow
Making it impossible for the Haradrim to win, so they concede.
Giving the Gondorians a major victory and 400R

In the Haradrim camp the four sing a song for their friend lying prone on the battlefield. He was going to be promoted. All the others make a full recover.

In the Gondorian camp, Mainz  gains +1 strength, Asten gains +1 defense and CG 8 gains +1fight.

Mainz stood proud as he watched the four Haradrim flee the field. This victory was too easy, he had little credit to prove he was a worthy general. Mainz' train of thought was cut by Asten.

"Sir this one is dead!" He called.
"Good shooting you two! Now to matters of greater importance." His men stood befuddled.
"Fix the bridge!" He had seen how the Haradrim moved slowly across it, and the large chunk of stone lying in the river.
"Sir wouldn't it be better to dissemble the bridge?"
"And reduce the trade between Minas Morgul and here? I think not."
"Yet the Haradrim would have to retreat of the mountains, or take the long perilous road north to the black gate in order to support our enemies?" Asten was right, however orders were orders.
He could reason fixing the bridge easily with the steward, but destroying it would put him his bad books for a while, not something a general wanted, at least if he wanted to remain general.

Battle for north Ithilien

Keresk galloped between his troops, inspiring where he could. If Luthyre gained a victory here, they was no return.
As many battles had taught the Mordorians, once the Gondorians gained a settlement, It could only be taken by luck. If Luthyre gained North Ithilien, it would be much harder to take it than to keep it themselves.
"Keresk!" Called Dareos, still not referring him to his rank. Clearly angry he was Lieutenant. "Luthyre approaches."
"Corporal, take up position at the wall, and get the other maggot rider!"
"Sir." Dareos said belligerently.
"Orcs and Men!" Cried Keresk. "The Gondorians have seen fit to attack us!"
"With few numbers!"Called out Flaneen, which got a laugh.
"His stupidity must be rewarded with death! So bring me his head!" Shouted Keresk.

Lieutenant Luthyre Vs Lieutenant Keresk

Deployment:

..........
..........
Dareos unleashes an arrow that pierces deep into the ranger's shoulder
But not before he fires his own, meeting a peasant in the stomach
Luthyre almost successfully flanks the orcs, Pasor leads the charge
against the wall, to be counter charged by the peasants
The bowman on target
Luthyre leads his horse over the barrier wielding his sword to
behead one orc and cleaving Keresk's arm, whose warg flees at this
Yaion gains a foothold on the other side of the wall
The fighting intensifies
Yaion, the bowman and a citadel guard fall to the evil warriors
Things looking bad for the good guys
Pasor proving his rank
Luthyre gets another
Pasor tries to evade the evil-beings
And narrowly avoids a wound, Luthyre stabs the unskilled Dareos
The orc tumbles over the wall to his own ill-fate
The remaining forces growing weaker
Luthyre getting another
The remaining evil warriors flee, as Luthyre calls his Rally to me!
Giving the Gondorians a minor victory and 400R! (200R for minor victory+200R for taking settlement)
Keresk retreats south-west.

In north Ithilien everyone except Luthyre, Pasor and R4 will miss the next turn due to their injuries. R4 gains and old battle wound and Yaion losses his arm. one of the peasants will miss the next turn.
Luthyre does well and gains +1courage, also him and Pasor gain +1fight, R4 gains +1strength. the wounded archer is also promoted.

In the Mordorian camp Keresk, Dareos, and two Haradrim warriors will miss the next turn. Keresk also losses and arm. The be-headed warg rider was left at the settlement.

Luthyre and Pasor rose there drinks in honour of their men, most of whom lay groaning on the floor still recovering from their wounds.

They had achieved a great victory at great cost, North Ithilien was now only defended by six men, yet Keresk wouldn't return while Luthyre remained there.
"Pasor!" Called Luthyre, "what news from the realm?"
"Both battles north of here were victories"
"Nethar defeated Anersk?"
"Clearly, the steward has given him a special honour. Maybe he'll save one for you too?" Pasor said jokingly
"The tide has turned, no orc is safe in the north any more" smiled Luthyre.
"Hold that speech, the rogue captain has sided with the orcs in the south."
"Minas Tirith is at risk! Dengond and Haldran must return to it's walls!"
"I also have news concerning those battles too" Pasor claimed weakly, Luthyre's face turned pale.

Battle for the captain's hill

Oira urged his fellows onwards, the hill was in sight, and with it the Rogue captain. News had it that his company turned up in the Goblin's camp. Oira knew that if the Rogue captain gave any service to the goblins, it would end badly for the gondorians.
"Sir!" Called Questor from vanguard of the troop."What should we expect of the captain?"
Which wasn't exactly the question he had asked, Oira had sold the captain an amulet, which had some magically power.
"The amulet grants him, greater strength than any man should have." Oira spoke gravely "also he will be too skilled to face alone in combat, I fear that if he sides with the goblins, the fiefs will be at risk." Then Oira stopped. They had reached the hill.
The Rogue captain and his company stood on top. Oira ushered his troops to the summit....

The rogues are placed on the hill top, control of the company goes on a 2D6:
  • 2-5    The Goblins
  • 6-8    Neutral (Will only attack engaged friendly models)
  • 9-12  Oira's company
If the goblins have priority, this roll is given on a -2, and if Oira has priority it is given on a +2.

This is a 'Take the high ground' scenario. whoever has more models on the hilltop after turn ten wins.

Note: Vashner arrives on the eighth turn on a 1 or 2 (from D6).

The amulet offers the rogue captain +1strength and fight value

Lieutenant Oira Vs The goblin horde + Lieutenant Vashner (Take the captain's hill)

Deployment:

The rogues try and block the goblin's passage to the hill
Yet are neutral in this turn, so are unable to stop them
Oira's company approach the hill, to be met by the goblins
The archers exchange kill for kill
The goblins swarm over the hillside
Questor falls to the captain and a goblin is also downed
The goblins gain the upper hand
the rogues still fight for neither side
The troll and the captain gets one each
The troll tumbles off the hill, and the rogue captain decides
to fight for the goblins, for this turn at least.
The Khazad archer succumbs to the pointy swords,
meanwhile the captain is smashed in the chest and narrowly
avoids a beheading
The rogues and goblins moving well together
The captain reducing the Gondorians
The rogues go neutral, and the remaining dwarves
are surrounded, Vashner's forces fail to arrive.
Only one dwarf survives
The rogues angered at the massacre go 'ape' on
the goblins. Vashner still doesn't turn up.
Despite this, three rogues fall to the goblin's 'hands'
The rogues en-raged by the attack on their own, attack
the goblins again. Vashner doesn't arrive (again).
The troll scores another. As turn ten is reached, the
Gondorians have clearly lost this battle, even if the
rogues support him, so the remaining corporal
concedes this one.
Giving the Goblins a major victory, the rogue captain's services and 400R!
Oira retreats south-west. Vashner arrives at the goblin camp

In the Gondorian camp five casualties recover to full fitness, but Oira, Cpl I and two other will miss the next turn.
The uninjured corporal gains the Natural Resilience special rule, allowing a re-roll on the injury table. The remaining bow-dwarf is promoted to a Khazad-archer, and the injured dwarf warrior to a Khazad guard gaining +1fate.

In the Goblin camp, the archer recovers but the spear-goblin was found dead. In the Captain's company, three recover yet the squished man doesn't recover.

The two captains stood beside the fireplace. The rogue was unhappy, since he had sided with the Gondorians towards the end of the battle, he was disappointed that his decision had to be converted.
Two orcs walked towards the fireplace, one much bigger than most orcs, the other was one of their scouts.
Vashner had arrived.
"So we have the captain!" bellowed Vashner."The dark lord sends his regards gobbo!" Neither captain laughed.
"Interesting that you brought him up." Said the rogue, to which all orcs turned to face him. No orc or soldier under the dark lord spoke of him like that. "Tell him he can't have it."
"Your not in a position to make your own demands man-filth!" Cried the goblin.
At this point all swords had been drawn, they attacked the rogue, who quickly succumbed to the sheer number of blades and was wrestled to the ground.
They stripped him, but found no evidence of the amulet.
"The cur must have swallowed it!" whimpered the goblin. The rogue rolled his eyes.
"No it's too big to fit down his throat!" Vashner actually looked sad.
"I don't have it! How many times must a man say"
"Where is it then!" Shouted the orc. The rogue couldn't face the foul breathed orc.
"A week before you arrived, we were ambushed by a large company of orcs, they mistook it for a lucky charm."
"And where are these orcs now?"
"North, probably around Osgiliath." This was bad news, the amulet could easily fall into Gondorians hands, maybe it already had...
