The models are ready, below are 6x serpent guard, 6x knights of Dol Amroth (3 are painted but I wanted consistency with my troops), 3x Khazad guard, my 12 converted spearmen, the troll chieftain, and the failed converted shade, also the three pieces of terrain from last month along with two statues:
I black inked some of the spearmen, with painted faces(it was done badly before), so they could be painted anew. Also I put a piece of polystyrene to observe what happens when it is exposed to spray paint, after spraying the polystyrene had clearly descended, but only by as much as 5mm at most.
Again more painting will be up soon.

Well I think it worked. Despite the filing down of the arms a couple of models do have bulky cloaks, some have very thin or short ones, but overall a success given that my sculpting skills were very limited.
The process was:
mix together putty
roll it out as flat as possible, use olive oil so it doesn't stick to the roller
Cut out a rectangular shape from it
Flatten that as much as possible
apply to models
being an amateur at this naturally I got fingerprints all over it, which I smoothed-ish with one of the many sculpting tools (still don't know what half of them are for).

The amount of putty I used was about 3 inches for 12 models and there was some left over, I think that I did a good job, but some models did turn out to look too bulky, or the cloak was too short, but overall I'm happy.

Here's some work on the Gondorian spearmen, being converted into Citadel guardsmen.
The idea I had was to put a cloak of green stuff over it.
Simple but seeing other people's attempts with cloaks, firstly were very good, but often they would make the wearer look very bulky around the shoulders. So I decided to file down the shoulders, and arm on the left. Like:
The main problem is the shields, or the ones they had, eg. ^^.
The cloaks will have to cover them, or the guards will look ridiculous will a fraction of a shield beside them.

So they don't all look alike, beside spear positions, I choose to tilt their heads, this means chopping them off so:
This does allow a better cloak application in the future, which will help.
Next time you'll see these guys is before they are sprayed, and after glueing and sculpting.

It was my birthday last month, I got some money, which allowed the purchase of several Ebay items like,
these Gondorian spearmen.
Suladan, The Serpent Lord, mounted, I prefer him to the other serpent Lord, since he's not half mumak(the horns), and imo looks more the part.
The troll chieftain, and my first metal troll I own :) which has been green stuffed together, (hopefully it will hold):
Anyway, the plans for the Gondorians is, to convert them into Citadel guardsmen, I know they just arrived and they got promoted already, but don't tell the other spearmen!
In other news this blog has reached over 2000 views! A very small and unimportant milestone, well I'm happy even if you're not.
Also I might point out the tourney has been played through, so someone has actually won it. The last games should be up within the 10days, and then the overall winner will be announced.
